Tim Stone and Norberto use them, so I am sure that they have experience about it and will explain us :-)

What exactly do you need to know ?

i think as a first step, take a look at touch.prg from fwh\samples. This will show some samples of what can be done.

i had enhanced this program, if you are missing something let me know.

I have a running application on win8 tablets

Richard,
I want to know if a program written in Fivewin/xHarbour can run in a Tablet.
I have an old version of fivewin.
Can you send me touch.prg sample?

Many thanks
Marco

To answer your question, yes a fivewin exe can run on a tablet "as it is" with respect to screen handling . A windows tablet is based on windows 8.

I have uploaded touch.exe so you can download it and see what you can do with "metro" interface that Antonio introduced a couple of years ago.

This is the url www.cbati.com/temp/touch.exe

for touch.prg you need a recent version of fw to run it, if Antonio agrees i can send it to you, no problem

As far as i am concerned, if you want to go tablet direction, you need to design an application made for tablet, define all your screens etc... no resources.

If i have some time tomorrow, i will upload some of my source code so you can see how it works.

Richard,
probably the question is simpler.
Actually a customer uses a program in some pc (winxp, win7) for detection processing times.
This program is compiled with xHarbour/Fivewin.
The personal computers are mapped in a volume of a server.
Now we want to substitute the PC with Tablet PC in order to give to the user the new possibility to take some pictures.

The same "modified" program with a new button "Take Pictures" that open the camera of Tablet PC.
Many thanks
Marco

Richard,

The most recent version of FWH touch shows a browse and a several features that are not in your posted EXE, I think so.

Anyhow, I really would appreciate if you show us your enhancements. FWH touch is a very nice concept, but just few users noticed it or needed it. Thanks :-)

I tried first with tablets running Windows RT, and in these was only possible via RDP, now I bought tablets running Windows 8.1 32 bits, Like Dell venue pro 8, Toshiba encore, Lenovo Miix2 and Lenovo ideapad 8 and how the system is Windows 8, our systems functioning normally. :) without changes in touch screen.
These new tablets with Windows 8.1 are with reduced price, around $ 200US, since Microsoft released Windows license free for systems with less than 9-inch screen, as well as released Windows phone 8 license for free, so must be released more products with lower prices in the coming months, and our applications work normally in desktop mode without changes.
Windows phone 8.1 Developer preview has a vpn and enterprise mode, but not tested yet.
but to run in store, like a "modern style" application, needs a lot of changes in (x)harbour and FWH, as has already been discussed in other threads.

Windows server 2012 R2 has a remote appl mode, with this you can run your aplication in tablets with android, ipad, and (of course) Windows, without changes.

Marco: if your appl run in any PC, using câmera via controls in fórum, will run in tablets too, with correct drivers installed, If I'm not wrong here in the Forum has a twebcam and others.

see models here : http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msu ... D.67092800 , in Amazon the price is Lower. :)

best regards

Best regards

Richard,

Many thanks. Anyhow, FWH's touch.prg is more complete than yours.

I am building it and will provide a download url, thanks :-)
