Menu Command, Shortcut Keys, and Resources

Just discovered something interesting. The shortcut key underline or prompt on a menu item is only displayed if the user presses the Alt key i.e. the current menu item is highlighted and the letter that you have defined using '&' as the shortcut key is underlined. If you just use the mouse to se...

Thanks for the reply. I have not ever even tried to use ADS Server (although I'm sure that I'll get it sometime). I appreciate your input. I was just thinking about a simple encryption like Encrypt() just to sort of scramble the data so that a user that has a basic knowledge of DOS commands cannot g...

That is why you are the master!!! You are right. If the database being viewed with the browse is indexed the records would change anyway BUT is it not possible to have the records to change but the highlight bar to stay in its current position until the user moves it? It becomes disconcerting when t...

Good Morning, and thanks to both of YOU for the replies. 1 - The ability to set the height of the rows and headings and the text of the headings to be spaced correctly in proportion to the chosen Line Height and chosen Font for the browse. This needs to be sorted out. Detlef Hofner very kindly modif...

Ok, Ok, I get it. I like surprises. You're not going to respond to this message thread so that you can surprise us all with the next build? Right? I can just see it now in 'Whats New?' It should go something like this: * Enhancement: TWBROWSE and TLISTBOX now fully XP Theme Aware. Right? :) :) :) Th...

No input yet?

Antonio - I promise to renew my FWH subscription FOR LIFE if you fix this :) :) :) (well at least for the next couple of years).

Dale.

Data Encryption

I'm on a roll today. This is a question that I have been meaning to ask for a long time now but never got around to it until now: Has anybody tried to use the Encrypt() and Decrypt() FWH Functions to stop prying eyes looking at a clients data? I would imagine that to a hacker cracking this encryptio...

Thanks.

It is not really a problem (unless something else is being affected). I was just wondering.

Put it this way - my rantings and ravings about the FiveWin ListBox Browse are far more important than the background window color :)!

Regards,

Dale.

Sorry - I was talking about the actual record highlight bar not the scroll bars i.e. the scroll bars (as you quite correctly say) are XP Themed.

Sorry.

Dale.

Hello,

I do have XP Themes enabled i.e. all my buttons, windows, frames, etc. etc. appear XP Style (unless I am still doing something wrong)???

I do have the Windows.XP. Manifest defined as a resource in my .RES file. Is there anything else I need to be doing???

Regards,

Dale.

Actually - what would be really nice is if the color of the scroll bar could be changed to that XP Style Light Blue (or any other color for that matter but this should be the default) instead of the boring standard darkish blue! Still hoping. Edit by self: Sorry - I should be talking about the actua...

Hi Antonio,

It is the first (parent) window in a small test application defined as:

Define Window oWnd MDI

I have fixed it by adding:

Define Window oWnd MDI Color CLR_WHITE, CLR_WHITE

but I was just wondering why such a small thing would have changed and for what reason?

Regards,

Dale.

Thanks for the prompt response. Mostly AMD Athlon XP Processors with NVidia AGP Cards (but even on one of my video production workstations that has a AGP 8X 256MB NVidia 7600 GT card this 'slow' or 'sluggish' painting and movement is still apparent). The workstation that I program on (using FWH and ...

Thanks Silvio, Sorry - I was busy editing my previous post when your reply came through. I am not going to pursue Hernan's Browse. These changes need to come from FiveTech themselves. Antonio - please respond. I mean - other than the subject matter of my previous posts - you have a first class winni...
